Wild About Gardens, for the benefit of people and wildlife

Let our gardens live!

The Forum for Gardening with Wildlife in Mind, of which The Wildlife Trusts and the Royal Horticultural Society are members, is highlighting the importance of gardens with a document entitled Let our gardens live! A manifesto for gardens, people and nature.

The Forum brings together a wide variety of organisations including Government agencies, horticultural and scientific bodies, nature conservation NGOs and commercial companies, all with some interest in gardens and gardening, though from very different perspectives.

The manifesto was launched by the Minister for Biodiversity, Joan Ruddock MP, on 18 July, at Roots and Shoots in the London Borough of Lambeth.

The manifesto has several aims. It will:

So far at least 31 organisations have signed the manifesto and in so doing pledged their support for what it seeks to achieve.

You can see the full text of the manifesto on the Natural England website.

If you have read the manifesto and agree with its aims, you can signal your support as an individual. The more people who sign up, the more this will highlight the importance of gardens to people and wildlife.
